What does yz mean

Also, I'm not sure what the z means on the rmz models. I'm not sure why they didn't go with RMF for the 4 strokes. I just always thought they had them for no real reason and just added F or X for 4 strokes or off-road bikes. That's just me though. Was thinking about this today as I was looking at some old Moto vids and wondered where they came up with the Yamaha "YZ" or Close ratio was referring to the close ratio transmission.
