I think it is time to upgrade it or get a better new kit. Or, if i decided to upgrade dtxplorer, i could just buy module from dtx6k and maybe an extra cymbal. For now i can't see dtx6k modules for sale at a good price. The question is how many bucks will i need to buy dtx6k module separately and if it's a good idea at all to upgrade 10 years old kit? It's a lot quieter than an acoustic kit, yet the kick pad produces some noise. The only problem I find, is the hihat pad and especially the hihat pedal controller. A reallistic hihat pad that mounts on a real hihat stand would be MUCH better.
All in all great kit. Good sounds, you can twick them, create custom kit, nice metronome and training features and you get don't mind the rubber pads if you are used to the feel of rubber practice pads. It gives you the opportunity to upgrade pads a 2 or 3 zone cymbal pad for the snare and ride is a must and it is expandable by adding one more pad.
Too bad that it comes all with single zone pads, but I guess that you get what you pay for. I recommend it. It's good for a start. You can upgrade some pads if you feel like whenever you find a good deal on ebay.
There can be only 1. Ilwhen I bought mine I tried the yamaha and the Roland and I found that on every roland I played it would miss hits occasionally. I played different Roland kits at different stores and had the same problem. I'm not Roland bashing, just my observation. The dtxplorer is great for practice. You have an extra input on the bass pad for extra whatever you want it to be.
The hi-hat is fine for practice, but it is defenantly a weak spot. I upgraded to the 12" 3 zone snare which was a good upgrade but if your just using for keeping your chops up then you can't beat the price. If your gonna be gigging with it then save up and get a more expensive model with all 3 zone pads. Originally Posted by FL Drummer. Page 1 of 2 1 2 Last Jump to page:. Working with these tools will help you improve the most important skills for drumming from rhythmic timing to pad accuracy and endurance. The system will even generate a score so you can track your progress as you improve. Pad upgrades let you build your dream kit as your skills improve, and USB connectivity lets you easily connect to a PC. After making acoustic drums for more than 40 years and acquiring deep and highly detailed knowledge of drums in the process, Yamaha has developed the DTX-PAD, a inch electronic snare drum pad with a transcendent feel.
The drum head is made of TCS textured cellular silicone. By adjusting the sizes and concentrations of the tiny bubbles in the TCS, we have created two different types of pads, a snare pad and tom pad, that both feel perfect. When we were developing this pad, we had it evaluated repeatedly by the world's top drummers.
The detailed sense of perfection of these drummers is reflected in this drum pad. As a result, this drum pad performs superbly, like an acoustic drum, and it feels so supremely good that professional drummers brim with pleasure when they first start playing it.
