What happens if you are caught with a derestricted moped
Boys on s will not stop to get their bike dynoed and taken off them. Being restricted to 30mph is dangerous, and I speak from experience. When following my friend at 30, other drivers behind get irate, follow just inches from your rear wheel and over take stupidly. My bike however, which would happily plod along at 45mph was much safer. Reason being other drivers would happily follow until it was safe to overtake. If the legal requirement is for the scooters to hit 31 — so be it.
Take it or leave it. If you want more — pass your test and drive the way you want. I ride an rs50 which can get up to about 60 on a nice flat road, but the second I hit a small hill or anything that makes the bike struggle. I slow down to a crawl which can make other drivers annoyed. I know most of the people riding mopeds are 16 year old chavs but you do get the odd one like me that one day wants to own a bigger bike and ride safe.
City Comment. This would only be safe if all other road vehicles were restricted to 30mph. Ben — Bognor Regis Agree 3 Disagree 4 It should be the same with bigger bikes if the law wants to be like that.
Dylan, Cheshire Agree 0 Disagree 1 Brilliant idea! Definately a no no. It just ain't worth it. Colin the Bear Posted September 7, You're restricted for two years right?
Also your bike may be impounded and crushed. Then a ban and a fine. Get the bike restricted. Moving from 11bhp to 33bhp is quite a jump. You need to ask? Ingah Posted September 7, Interesting how this should come up. Was speaking to a mechanic today that i know: He told me that its the certificate that matters - and that if you unrestrict it afterwards they'll never know, even if you have an accident. Anyways, he's never heard of anybody who's actually been caught It's more an academic exercise for me though, i'm too well behaved to actually do it myself Disclaimer: I'm not condoning riding unrestricted on a restricted license.
Does it make it right? MissD Posted September 7, Don't do it! Join the conversation You can post now and register later. Reply to this topic Insert image from URL.

Being a 4 stroke however just made matters slower. I opted for a cc pit bike engine I know people will be moaning that thats "too" illegal but remember its four stroke, still only did about 55mph.
Made things a lot safer. I think getting your bike derestricted also affects your insurance not overly sure on that one. I got a 50cc and get so annoyed of people sitting up my arse and generally being ignorrant but i can't see the point in spending so much money when in a year i will be 17 and can sell it for a car or a Woudn't bother to be honest. It was the same with me, people up my arse all the time, all i did was remove the restrictor in the exhaust welded it did 30 to start with then it did about , but that did me, really only went in 30 zones anyway.

Posted: - 17 Dec Post subject: 16 year olds and restrictions. It is also illegal to ride on motorways or carry a pillion passenger.
However what you can do with this licence will depend on your age:. Book Your CBT. At 16 after passing your CBT you can take this to remove your L plates and carry passengers. The process requires you passing a theory test and a 2 stage practical test. At 17 this licence means you can ride a cc with a maximum power output of 11Kw and carry passengers and ride on motorways without L plates. To get this licence there are 2 tests, module 1 and module 2 - This will take around 2 days to complete.
Module 1 lasts about 15 minutes and Module 2 test lasts around 50 minutes on the road. The A2 is a similar process to A1 and if you are between 19 and 24 this is the route we would recommend.
This licence allows you to ride any size bike however it must be restricted to no more than 35Kw 47bhp and have a power to rate ration which is no more than 0. This will mean you can carry passengers and ride on motorways. This is the most complete licence you can get. It means you are free to ride whatever takes your fancy. Obviously to get this licence there are restrictions in place:. You must take your test on a motorcycle with cc minimum 40 Kwh.
This licence gives you the freedom to ride whatever motorcycle you want, no matter how powerful.
